It has become known that the Bank of England and Her Majesty’s Treasury are forming a joint working group of 30 specialists to develop the central bank’s digital currency (CBDC).  Security and Solutions Architects and the House of Lords Economic Affairs Committee will also be involved.
The specialists will monitor developments of the asset in other countries to ensure that the U.K. “remains at the forefront of global innovation.

The chief economist of the Bank of England said that the use of the digital pound will help improve financial stability against the backdrop of global economic instability.

The CBDC could be launched as early as 2025.
