This week, Google Play made an important announcement, expanding the rules of its app store for Android to be able to accept new blockchain content, albeit with strict guidelines.
While the new policy aims to facilitate transactions involving digital content in apps and games and offers more opportunities for blockchain app developers, it comes with stringent requirements.
Developers must disclose if their app enables the purchase or earning of cryptocurrencies and blockchain assets.
Additionally, advertising potential earnings directly associated with these assets is prohibited. The purchase, sale, and trading of blockchain assets must comply with local regulations and be conducted through regulated exchanges in all available regions.
Apps utilizing NFTs must be registered as gambling apps.
Despite its strictness, the new Google Play policy is regarded by industry experts as a necessary foundation for blockchain advancement.
